Job Description
- Learn terminology for all items used in/during events
- Assist in the set-up, execution, and break-down of events
- Learn all Astin Mansion event procedures and standards
- Event duties may include: timeline management, hostess, directing guests, preparing catering items, serving on the buffet line, bussing tables, cutting/serving cake/dessert, etc.
- Maintain a positive attitude when interacting with clients, guests, and other staff members
- Learn wait staff/serving etiquette
Requirements
- High school education or GED
- Personal transportation
- Communication skills
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Flexible schedule
- Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations
- Ability to lift a minimum of thirty pounds
- Ability to work/stand a minimum of eight hours
- Attend intern orientation if accepted into the program

- The Astin Mansion is a full service event venue which means you get to see all aspect of event planning and are not limited to learn just about one subject. The Astin Mansion also hosts a verity of events weddings, formals and corporate events. This allows the interns to truly see what part of the event-planning field they would like to work in upon graduation. When you start interning for the Astin Mansion it is unpaid you must meet specific requirements and perform at a high level in order to earn "superstar" status. Once you become a "superstar" then you will start getting paid for every event worked.
- After working for The Astin Mansion for three months I was awarded "Superstar" and finished the rest of my first semester as a paid intern. During spring of 2016 I became the Special Events Coordinator.
